Lumina Clippers vs Overlap AI: whose accounts post your clips, how fast views start, what you pay and how a view is counted, from each side's pages.
How we checked: we read Overlap's homepage, brand pages, campaign pages, compare pages, docs and Terms on 26 October 2026 and quote them with the page name. We run Lumina Clippers.
A DTC brand is launching in three weeks with a new TikTok handle and zero followers. They need clips in front of real audiences before the launch date, or they want to build an audience on accounts they own. That is the Lumina Clippers vs Overlap decision. Lumina Clippers is a clipping specialist. Our team cuts the clips, checks them against the brief, and 62,900+ vetted clippers post them on their own accounts. Overlap, the AI clipping platform at overlap.ai run by Vastly, Inc., runs performance-priced AI clipping campaigns on accounts the brand owns. Checked 26 October 2026.
Lumina Clippers gets clips in front of existing audiences first: 24 to 72 hours after the strategy call. Overlap's documentation describes new accounts posting from day 1 at 2 posts a day and reaching full posting volume from day 22. Overlap wins if you want to own the channel and can wait for the ramp. This Lumina Clippers vs Overlap table uses each side's own pages.

If you are still comparing options, see who we rate as the best clipping agency for brands, and why.
Overlap runs on accounts the brand owns. Their pages state customers retain the accounts, followers, posts, and performance data. Posts stay live when billing stops. Nothing is repurposed for another advertiser. The brand is building a channel it keeps.
Lumina Clippers posts through 62,900+ vetted clippers on their own accounts. You borrow the audiences those clippers already have. You do not own the followers. Creator posts stay on creator accounts by default. The reach starts from existing audiences instead of from zero.
Overlap's own compare pages note the trade-off of "many audiences at once." That is their honest concession. If the brand already has accounts with an audience, Overlap's model compounds it. If the brand is starting from zero and needs reach this week, the clipper network starts with audiences that already exist. The Lumina Clippers vs Overlap decision is whether you want to own the channel or borrow reach this week.
Where each campaign's views come from
Ownership, not quality: clipper accounts with audiences today, or brand accounts that grow over time.
With Overlap, the brand connects accounts it owns. Platform restrictions, account limits and policy strikes sit on those accounts. Overlap's own docs keep posting volume low at first "while new accounts build trust with the platforms." With Lumina Clippers, creator posts stay on creator accounts. The platform risk sits with the clipper network, not the brand's own handles. Ask both sides where the risk sits before you connect accounts or upload footage.
Overlap's documentation describes a ramp for new accounts: warming on days 1 to 14 at 2 posts a day per account, ramping on days 15 to 21 at up to 5 a day, and full volume from day 22. Their software pages describe clips being made the same day. Those are different claims about different parts of the product. The managed-campaign ramp for new accounts is the relevant window if the brand is starting from zero.
Lumina Clippers states most campaigns go live 24 to 72 hours after the strategy call, once we have the source file, goals and brand guidelines. The clock starts once the material is in.
If your launch date is fixed, the published windows in Lumina Clippers vs Overlap are different. A TGE, a listing or a product drop has a hard date. Late clips miss the window. Get the first-post date in writing from either side before you sign. Ask what "kickoff" means: the signed order, the first call or the file landing.
Set how far away your launch is and when your footage, goals and brand guidelines will be ready. Each lane lays its company's published steps along the same days.
Every day on this clock is our own arithmetic on each side's published windows, in whole calendar days. Overlap's lane follows its documented ramp for new accounts and marks the day full volume starts; its first posts go out earlier, at 2 a day. Get the first-post date in writing from either side before you sign.
Overlap's pages describe both an agent and "Overlap's team" handling selection, editing and publishing. Its compare hub explains the two modes: "Teams run it themselves, or Overlap's team runs managed clipping campaigns for them on accounts the customer owns, priced per delivered view." Lumina Clippers states our team writes the brief, cuts the clips, reviews every post against the brief, and 62,900+ vetted clippers post them on TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and X.
The difference is who is accountable for the cut. On Overlap's pages the agent cuts, and the team runs managed campaigns. On Lumina's pages the team is named. Ask both sides who reviews a clip before it posts and how fast that review comes back.
Overlap's clipping-campaigns page includes brief fields for embargo dates, product claims and music permissions. Their Terms state the customer is solely responsible for any copyright claims or disputes that may arise from the clips. Lumina's intake asks for the launch date and whether anything is under embargo. Disclosures, restricted claims and takedowns are handled. Creator posts stay on creator accounts by default. Usage rights are agreed at intake. Ask both sides what happens to unreleased footage and who handles a takedown before you upload.
Overlap publishes a $0.50 to $2.50 CPM band on delivered views. You set a monthly ceiling. Spend follows the views actually delivered and stops at the ceiling. There are no production fees and no minimum deliverables. Nothing is charged for a clip that never posted or reach that never landed.
Lumina Clippers quotes a custom CPM per 1,000 verified views, per campaign, on the strategy call. $5,000 minimum. No multi-month lock-in. There is no published brand-side CPM. One CPM covers the full job.
Overlap's iGaming and crypto listicle states Lumina has a "CPM of $2 to $5 per thousand views" and "an average of 4.2 million views per campaign." Neither figure is on Lumina's site. Lumina's pricing page answers "Is Lumina's CPM $1 to $5? No." The $1 to $5 figure on Lumina's site is the range given for what clippers are paid, not what brands pay. The figures Overlap attributes to Lumina are not on Lumina's site.
In Lumina Clippers vs Overlap, the published difference is one band and one ceiling from Overlap, or one quote from Lumina. Send both teams the same video and ask for the cost per 1,000 verified views. Then track it.
In Lumina Clippers vs Overlap, both bill on views, so ask which views. Overlap's brands page says views are counted "From the platforms' own analytics on posts published to your accounts," and "Every view is organic." Its campaigns page says to "Document eligible views, the billing window, and the monthly spending limit before launch." The Lumina Clippers homepage says "Every view is anti-bot verified before it counts, and unnatural view patterns are rejected before payout." Ask Overlap how invalid views are removed before billing.
Overlap's compare pages list the trade-offs of their model. The "many audiences at once" line is their own concession. Owned accounts mean the brand supplies the accounts and sets the rules. The pages are clear about what sits with the brand. This is not a weakness of their model. It is the model. For a brand that already has an audience, that trade-off is small. For a brand starting from zero, it is the whole question.
Overlap's homepage and case study report iHeartMedia generated 600M views and 100K clips without hiring an editor. The case study describes the software and workflow. Overlap's product page adds: "These are the results reported in this customer's case study, not a forecast for a new campaign." It does not state which pricing model applied to the campaign. Ask which results were managed campaigns and which were teams using the software before you compare them to campaign results on other sites.
Lumina Clippers' named results are campaign results: Snapchat, Adobe and Midjourney first, then Riverside 7.7M, Stake 1.8B+, OKX and Polkadot. 18B+ verified views. 62,900+ vetted clippers. Trusted by Fortune 500 companies. 5.0 on Clutch. Featured in Forbes. Both sides publish numbers. The question is which numbers are campaign results and which are software results.
Lumina Clippers' proof is the named campaign results above. Each brand is named, so you can ask for the campaign behind each number.
Overlap is Y Combinator backed and has published a $1.9M seed round. Its funding post names Y Combinator, Collab Fund, Transpose, Orange Collective, Pioneer Fund and The 23 Fund. Their site carries testimonials, including from iHeartMedia. Both sides have proof. The difference is whether the proof is named verified view results or software case studies. Ask which results are campaign results before you compare them.
Overlap's Terms describe the service as a SaaS tool for video editing. The legal entity is Vastly, Inc. The customer is solely responsible for any copyright claims or disputes arising from the clips. Refunds follow a Refund Policy that is "available upon request or via our website," under California law. Ask where the monthly ceiling, the view definition and the exit terms are written before you sign.
Lumina Clippers' terms cover a managed clipping engagement. Disclosures, restricted claims and takedowns are handled. Creator posts stay on creator accounts by default. In Lumina Clippers vs Overlap, read the Terms of either side before you sign. The scope of responsibility is written differently.
Neither side removes all work from your team. The difference is which steps sit inside the engagement and which stay with you.
| Step | Lumina Clippers | Overlap (their pages, 26 Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Your team still does | Approve the brief, send the footage, flag any embargo at intake | Supply approved source recordings. Connect accounts you own. Set creative and approval rules. |
| Who cuts | Our team | The agent; Overlap's team on managed campaigns |
| Who keeps the followers | The clippers | The brand |
| First clips | 24 to 72 hours after the call | Day 1 at 2 posts a day per new account; full volume from day 22 (docs) |
| Footage rights | Intake asks about embargo; disclosures and takedowns handled | Embargo fields exist; Terms make you responsible for copyright claims |
Lumina Clippers fits if you need reach this week through 62,900+ vetted clippers and one team that cuts and checks the clips. Mainstream named results come first. The price is quoted on the call with a $5,000 minimum and no multi-month lock-in.
Overlap fits if you want to build an audience on accounts you own, you are comfortable with their published ramp for new accounts, and you want a published CPM band with a monthly ceiling. Their owned-accounts model, embargo fields and YC backing are real strengths.
Some brands use both. Overlap for the owned channel over months, and Lumina Clippers for volume this week. The two solve different parts of a launch. Give both the same source video and compare verified views.

Lumina Clippers vs Overlap is a choice of ownership, not of good and bad. If you want to build an audience on accounts you own and can wait for the ramp, Overlap fits. If you need reach this week through 62,900+ clippers who already have accounts, Lumina Clippers does.
The published differences are clear. Overlap states a $0.50 to $2.50 CPM band and a ramp that reaches full volume on day 22 for new accounts. Lumina Clippers states 24 to 72 hours and one custom quote. Overlap's iGaming and crypto listicle attributes a $2 to $5 CPM and an average of 4.2 million views to Lumina. Neither figure is on Lumina's site. Lumina's pricing page answers that claim with No.
